Early in the year, Byron joined Maybird a riding club and started training on his stationary bike until mountain bike season. He rode with the Green Boys and Maybird North teams during the summer.
I don't remember when Byron was hired, but Byron worked for Snelgrove Ice Cream most if not all of 2025. Going strong during the school year.
Became a voting adult at 18.
Prom with Helena.
Allergy testing and so many shots over the course of the year. He was amazing at managing his many many shot appointments. He will keep it up every few months until 2030.
China Trip 2025
Beijing, Xian, Gulin, Yongshu & Hong Kong with layovers in Taiwan.
I told Byron and Soren if they stuck with Chinese through Jr High & the AP test I would take them to China and we did it!
No photo evidence of this, Byron spent a day painting the outside of G'ma Rasmussen's Scofield cabin.
Two Summer ICUP races to prove he should be racing against the A- boys in NICA.
NICA Races: Snowbasin, Soldier Hollow, Beaver, Herriman and State in Cedar City.
Homecoming with Zoe.
Fire Pit with the guys from Mikey's Place.
Byron is so good to hang out with the guys when I ask.
Byron also participated in Vikings Give this year. Spending time asking for donations for underprivileged kids, going to purchase the gifts, and then going to a dinner/getting to know the family he had bought for.
Cyclocross began before the NICA Season ended. Byron was racing almost weekly for a month or two.
NICA State in Cedar City.
We stayed at the Brian Head Lodge and visited Cedar Breaks like last year. Again it was too icy to really explore but Byron and I caught some great blue bird day views.
Byron took 57th in state out of 335 riders in the JVA category. Byron had an amazing journey in this sport, going from the bottom category to JVC, JVB and then JVA ending in the top 10% of the state.
Cyclocross continued....
Halloween with Zoe
He lettered in Mountain Biking under the old more competitive standards. The team switched who could qualify to letter this year, under which rules Byron would have lettered when he was a Sophomore. Unfortunate, but he worked so hard and achieved it under the old tougher standard.
Cyclocross ended with a 5th place finish at the state championship.
Most exciting news of all, Byron got some great scholarships at the schools he applied to. His hard work in school, and high caliber classes have paid off.
U of U is looking like the most appealing offer. We'll see where he ends up!
