Miriam 2025

Banner year for our Mir-Cat.

Miriam moved into a cute basement apartment in Pleasant Grove with her best friend/boyfriend Will. I was afraid it was too far away from school and work, but being so close to the mountain with trails and open fields makes up for travel time.

Miriam has worked for a year + at Edgemont Pharmacy and still enjoys it there.  She has become the personal pharmacist to Grandma and Grandpa Ray. This unique distinction has made Miriam Grandpa Byron's favorite person to see walk into their Legacy Village room.

Miriam has been volunteering weekly for over a year at the local hospital (I don't know which one) and has recently been promoted to the emergency room. She also accepted an internship with an Intermountain Health where she does pop up health screenings around the state.

She will graduate from UVU this Spring with a Public Health degree and a Biology minor.

Ballroom ended with a huge success. Miriam got to compete Latin Medley and Ballroom Medley in California competition where UVU won first place.  During June, the team traveled to Blackpool where UVU took first for both dances again.  Blackpool has been on Miriam's radar for a long time, competing there was one of those long term goal check offs.  Like almost all goals, getting there was more important than the actually meeting the goal. Miriam has been less and less excited to dance competitively for the last year, and dancing in another country sealed the deal.  She was eager to explore than spend time in hair and makeup waiting for competition times.  After making the team again in the Fall, Miriam decided it was time to move on to focus on school and work. Bittersweet for sure, but mostly seems like a relief.

Miriam's 2025 adventures.

A trip to Seattle with elementary school friends, Island Park reunion with Will's family, the epic trip to England with the ballroom team.  Miriam and Will extended their trip for and extra week in Portugal.  A weeklong backpacking trip to Southern Utah with CC Trekkers. A family weekend at Eagle Point and one in Helper for Christmas.

Miriam has stayed friends with the ballroom team, and has been in a few weddings this year.  When things end, we get take with us all the memories and friends we've met along the way.

2025 was not all triumphs, and travel. I don't know all the hard things Miriam had to face this year, but I do know that one of the hardest days of the year was when Christian right social media personality Charlie Kirk was shot on UVU campus.  That kind of violence makes everyone feel unsafe in this world and was especially awful for Miriam and Will.
